This was one of the best paranormal books I have always read. In fact, it was so good, that information technology inspired me to write a decent review like this i.
The book had some scary parts (which I loved), but I had to constantly remind myself:
Information technology's only a book! It'south just a book! It'due south just ...
I am and so scared right now.
But sometimes ...
I'chiliad in consummate deprival.
Okay, I only wanted to put this out there ... when I found out there was a second book, I was similar:
Okay, now that I got that out of my chest ... back to the review.
The reasons I love this book so much are:
one)The plot is so freaking AH-MAZING! It's like you want something to happen, but at the aforementioned time you don't because you're afraid that you lot'll get a heart attack or that yous're not brave plenty to crawl out from underneath your blankets and make a run for it to the safety of your parents' bedroom. Just then you all the same wish something happens, and when something crazy or scary DOES happen, all you lot can think is "Awesome, crawly ..." with pure amazement, until y'all realize you're all solitary and it's already belatedly at dark.
2) The protagonist, McKenna Brady isn't what people think she is. She's not shallow and superficial, thinking just almost looking pretty. She's just equally amazed as everyone else about her transformation, and just wants to belong and non made fun of (especially after that tragedy their family had to get through: where the shadow of her twin sister's death follows her around). She also cares more virtually her friends than she lets on: she even goes to the betoken of having herself arrested in order to accomplish a job to save one of her friends. Although in that location were some things I did not go about her, but I'll elaborate on that more than later.
3) McKenna has (or had) a twin which makes her crawly.
4) She also has a spirit haunting her room, which is really creepy simply also super cool.
5) Information technology's a great story to tell your friends if yous desire to freak them out (mine certainly did *insert evil express joy here*). It'southward also neat if y'all let them read sure chapters because it makes them Experience the story more than (and they terminate upward thinking near information technology at night *another round of evil laughter*).
6) There's a spirit haunting McKenna's room (and eventually her firm) which is creepy, but besides very very cool.
seven) I learned a new game :))
Okay, so what I did non like or really get about the book:
1) Some chapters were kind of dragging, like in the start part. Although, I guess that was necessary since it ready the whole story, and it introduced some of the main characters. Simply possibly I felt like they dragged because I wanted to go to the really thrilling parts already. Haha!
2) McKenna can be unnervingly ... unemotional. Yeah, she gets scared. Yeah, she feels bad for someone dying (at that place was this bespeak where she felt worse for her dog'due south death than her friend). But ... when she talks about her sister, it kind of felt like she'south super distant. I mean, I become that she fears her sis may be behind all the hauntings, only I experience like she doesn't actually feel remorseful for what happened to her twin, you know? I don't know ... something just lacks.
3) Trey Emory. Okay, don't get me incorrect. I dearest Trey, only well ... he was kind of super nonchalant during the showtime of the book, and I experience like towards the center he just goes around with McKenna hunting for ways to stop Hannah but ... I don't know, I think it felt kind of rushed that he agreed then apace to help McKenna out. Although, I know he was Olivia during the last moments of her life, and she was freaking out only I think he should have been more than hesitant somehow nigh helping. Just I guess because he agreed to help her out and then chop-chop, things did speed upward a fleck. Although, the volume was quite well-paced nearly of the time
Overall, I think information technology's still a pretty good read. The writer did an amazing chore, and she only made me want to keep on reading (I'yard already reading her second book on Wattpad! I personally like the 2nd book more, it gets super exciting in the first chapters, dissimilar in here).
I remember thinking:
"Psssh, this isn't scary at all."
And and so subsequently I'd exist hiding under my sheets, taking back what I said ...
And trying hard not to freak out
Best. Book. E'er.
